I mentioned listening to Bill Evans’ recording “Intuition” on this weblog.  I actually have transcribed score of Invitation, which is the first track of this CD.  It was on a Jazz magazine in Japan.  When I tried to play it for the first time, it was too difficult so that I couldn’t continue reading the score.  But it’s been years now.  I think I am a little improved and start over reading the music little by little.
It’s not easy, though.  Reading the score along listening to the recording tells the music is not exactly transcribed on the sheet, especially the rhythmical aspect.  One obvious reason is that Evans plays this introduction with rubato, but more importantly, jazz can’t be transcribed in the theory of classical music.  If there are slurs, it could be easier understanding the music is sung.  Anyways, I am learning harmony from the score and rhythm from the recording.  Hoping I can complete.
